Academy Win the historic ‘’Welsh Super Cup’’!!
22.7.07
A small group of about 40 young Bristol students, and their coaches
departed last Sunday from Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre to travel
to Aberystwyth. These 40 boys are from Jamie Shore Soccer International
Academy and they took part in the ‘Welsh Super Cup’, an international
mini football tournament in Aberystwyth which has seen Michael Owen
and Ian Rush compete as young up and coming stars.
‘’To enjoy playing is the most important thing for them and
they will also
get so much out of the experience.” I was not interested in winning;
I was
more interested in how the young students cope mentally and physically
at such a high level when performing against such strong opponents’’
comments Jamie Shore, the school’s director. ‘’You learn an awful
amount about your players and most importantly they find out more
about themselves in these pressurised tournaments’. “Our boys were
impeccably behaved, on and off the pitch” “The astounding results
are a reflection of their overall discipline and behaviour”.
Our
U10 team won in the final 3-1 with a great display. It was great
to
see our Academy U10 players rewarded this year because they have
always played a year up and always beaten physically. This year
they physically and technically dominated the tournament as a result
of being stretched in over the past two years. This team proved
that they can now cope with pressure, which was not the case a year
ago.
It was a great test of character on the last day comments Jamie
’’Our
U13’s had to beat North Somerset Schools in the quarter final’’
which we
did 2-0. Then in semi final we squandered chances which resulted
in a
penalty shoot out – which we won. The U13 team won the final 2-0
and
seemed more relieved than adulated.
Almost the highlight of this last tour was the fact that the U13
final
will be shown on Sky TV on the 9th August. “They are still talking
about
it!” says Jamie.
Jamie Shore Soccer International, an independent football training
school,
has been running for just over two years and has four training venues,
one in Bristol, one in North Somerset, Berkshire and the other in
Wiltshire.
JSSi Academy plays the U12+ in the Junior Premier League and for
the U8 to U11 JSSi enter tournaments at home and abroad which is
one of the many activities the boys take part in and as representatives
of JSSI they have to comply with strict codes of conduct, behaviour
and dress, a key feature of the soccer school ethos, which includes
wearing a collar and tie with the school blazer and logo, and abiding
by instructions and decisions
without question. “They are a credit to us”, says Jamie, “and it
makes me
feel very proud to be able to share in their enjoyment and love
of the
game.”
