U13s Kidderminster Harriers 4 – 1 Almondsbury Town Youth

8.9.07

Goal Scorer: Mitchell Price
Man of the Match: Jordan Ballinger

Almondsbury’s first game in the Midland Junior Premier League was played on 3rd Generation astro turf. With this in mind, crisp, quick passing was the order of the day. Kidderminster started the better of the two teams having better possession and had a few early attempts at the Almondsbury’s goal.

The deadlock was broken by Kidderminster mid way through the first half, closely followed by a second. Almondsbury had to regroup and had good possession in wide areas to attack the Kidderminster defence. With glimpses of the quick short sharp passing that Almondsbury are renowned for.

In the second half Almondsbury started the brighter of the two teams, getting stuck in and spreading the ball across the midfield to stretch Kidderminster’s defence. This was to no avail however as Kidderminster added a 3rd. Almondsbury kept up the fight with Price slotting the ball home from 10 yards to give Almondsbury a glimmer of hope. As Almondsbury kept pushing forward to get back into the game Kidderminster broke away to grab a 4th goal. A change in formation gave Almondsbury a lift and they had the better of the possession in the last 10 minutes but could not get the free flowing football going to create more goal scoring opportunities.

Almondsbury dug deep to overturn the score line but the Kidderminster pace, power and strength proved too much for Almondsbury on the day. Not the start that Almondsbury wanted but with the commitment and desire of the team will surely see them through the season.
