Midland Junior Premier Football League Cup
Quarter Final 2nd Leg:

Gloucester City U12 0
Almondsbury Town U12 1

(Almondsbury win 2-0 on aggregate)

Leading 1-0 from last week's 1st Leg, Almondsbury Town made the short journey north to Gloucester City knowing avoiding defeat would secure them a semi-final tie against either Brackley Town or Tividale.

On a heavy but playable pitch, with another impressive display of possession football, Almondsbury never looked under a threat of losing the fixture. The team performance was far greater than the 1-0 result might suggest.

Almondsbury doubled their aggregate lead with the solitary goal of the game in the first half when Marcus Rankin rounded Gloucester's right back, pulled the ball back to Josh Williams, whose intelligent square pass found James MacDonald arriving to score at the back post.

Almondsbury's back four were excellent throughout, having the confidence in their superior technical ability to play out across the back. In central midfield Sam Miles and Zach Gaston were dominant, breaking up Gloucester forward play and orchestrating swift counter attacks.

The class and confidence of each of the 15 players in the Almondsbury squad to retain possession wherever they were on the pitch was simply too much for their opponents to compete with.

Nigel Gaston
Almondsbury Town U12 Manager
