BRISTOL teenager Joe Morrell looks to have a bright footballing future after earning international honours.
The central midfielder, a former jamie Shore Academy player for 3 years and from from Bradley Stoke, is in his fourth season with the Bristol City Academy and played for Wales Under-15s against Scotland in the Sky Sports-televised 0-0 draw earlier this month.
Morrell came off the bench for the final 20 minutes of the Victory Shield match and is now set to feature in the Under-16s squad for the matches against Ireland and England at the end of October.
He was also placed on standby for the Under-17s squad for their European qualifiers against Armenia, Lithuania and Serbia last week, in which fellow Bristol City Academy starlet Miles John is a regular.
Morrell is eligible to play for Wales because his mum, Sian, comes from the Merthyr valley in South Wales.
Sian said: "We're incredibly pleased and proud of Joe. We went to the game live and recorded it on TV, too, so all of his family and friends saw it.
"We have slightly divided loyalties in our house, but Joe is adamant that he'll play for Wales if he has to choose.
"He's not 15 until January, so he'll have another year of experience at under-15 level.
"His school (The Castle School,Thornbury) have been really supportive, especially in allowing him the week off before the Scotland game and allowing him a day off a week to train with Bristol City."
According to dave Morrell via email, Joe still talks about the good times he had during his 3 years with Jamie Shore and was pleased to bump into jssi staff and players at the welsh super cup this year.
